Amaretti del Chiostro-Crunchy Cookies- 5.3 oz

Crunchy Amaretti

Chiostro di Saronno
History and tradition According to the legend, Amaretti were first baked by a young couple to honour the cardinal of Milano. By slowly baking a blend of sugar, apricot kernels and egg whites we make the round crunchy bitter/sweet almond biscuits called Amaretti. Decorated with sparkling white sugar and wrapped in colourful papers our Company offers the widest range of these crunchy delicacies. The “Chiostro di Saronno” is an ancient Franciscan cloister located in the centre of the town of Saronno. This is the home of our Company and the place where we keep our more prestigeous recipes.

About us

Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli is based in Saronno Italy (near Milano) and is owned by the Lazzaroni Family

The Family originally used to own 2 different Lazzaroni Companies; in 1927 the two companies ended up in a new sole structure, which focused all energies on the cookies production, maintaining in the meantime also the production of Amaretto Lazzaroni 1851, being it always considered as their "liquid cookie”.

During the years the cookies company grew phenomenally well, becoming one of the most famous around the world, well known for its high quality standards.

In 1984, after the sale of the biscuit branch (the D. Lazzaroni & C, that today has nothing to see anymore with the Family or with Saronno) to an American multinational, Paolo Lazzaroni - namesake of his great grandfather, creator of the liqueurs - kept the Company "Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli“, later extended to many of the former products and having as glorious flag the well-known Amaretto Lazzaroni 1851.

At the beginning of the 90’s, Paolo Lazzaroni built in Saronno the actual plant.

The Company is today run by Paolo and Luca lazzaroni who are the 7th and 8th generation of a family of entrepreneurs who always worked in the high quality Italian food business through different companies.

Paolo Lazzaroni & Figli is very much export oriented, exporting in over 65 Countries through the 5 continent more of the 80% of its turnover. The Company, especially well known for its Amaretti biscuits Panettoni and for the Amaretto liqueur is committed to offering a wide variety of high quality Italian specialties to the high end worldwide specialty trade.
