MAYA (Cane Corso)
COLUMBIA, SC.....We have been saving dogs for a long time and have never had a case more complicated than Maya, the two-year-old Cane Corso we rescued. A good Samaritan picked Maya up after she was found on the side of the road. Cane Corso rescues were contacted, and she was taken to an ER in Columbia. Maya's injuries are massive. No one was willing to go out on a limb to get this young pup the medical care she needed. Maya had complex pelvic and sacrocaudal spinal fractures and hip luxations.
SMUDGE
VIDALIA, GA....We were contacted about a four-week-old male chihuahua puppy with a genital deformity. The sheath over his penis had not developed, leaving him exposed and in danger of developing infections from drying out. We had dealt with this several times before with our hypospadias puppies.
Shadow (Husky)
BLUFFTON, SC.....We received an e-mail to us, and several other rescues in the area asking for help with a one-year-old husky found abandoned in a shopping center in Bluffton, SC. I immediately asked for more information to find out if the dog was hurt. The e-mail was sent to lots of rescues that could help dogs that did not have medical issues. I was sure one of them would respond and take this beautiful husky.
Several days passed, and no one had contacted the person who had found the dog.
Roulette (CVRC Pitty)
CHARLESTON, SC.....Every week I rescue abused dogs. I have been doing this for over twenty years. I am rarely shocked but saddened by all the abuse and neglect inflicted on these innocent Souls. We see the injuries and make a plan to fix them. Next comes the emotional wounds that take much longer to heal. Some dogs never fully recover from the emotional abuse they have endured.
CHOCCO (Setter Mix)
GREENVILLE, SC.....Hurricanes and Kennel Cough are a combination, I would not wish on anyone. Sadly, that is precisely what we had to deal with. We were preparing for the Hurricane when I noticed the final notice from Greenville County for a sweet dog they had been posting for the past two weeks. Chocco was a two-year-old pup picked up as a stray. Her medical records said bilateral hip dysplasia and a cruciate ligament tear on the right stifle.
DEMI (Maltese)
Demi did well with her surgeries without any complications. She was stable during her anesthesia and came out of it quickly. I feel so bad for this precious little Angel. No dog should have to endure this kind of hardship. Demi is so used to being in pain that she never whimpers or complains. She takes it all in stride, which makes everyone sad. This precious girl has not complained once since we have had her.
